LTC Christopher Jones was commissioned in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant of Armor in 1992 upon graduation from the Virginia Military Institute. Following completion of the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox, KY, he served with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment as a Scout Platoon Leader, Troop Executive Officer, and Headquarters Troop Executive Officer. In 1997, after completion of the Armor Officer Advance Course, LTC Jones served as the Assistant Operations Officer in 1-72 AR, 2ID, Camp Casey, Korea. Upon return to the United States, LTC Jones served as a Company Commander and Headquarters Company Commander in 4-64 AR, 3ID, at Fort Stewart, GA. After command, LTC Jones joined the Cobra Team at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA, where he served as an Armor Company and Cavalry Troop trainer.

After graduating from the Command and General Staff College, LTC Jones served with the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, KS as the Operations Officer for 1-13 CAV, Operations Officer for 5-4 CAV, and Brigade Operations Officer for 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. His was last assigned to the Office of Chief of Staff Army where he served as the Armor Colonel Assignment Officer. He has multiple deployment tours to include Operation Restore Hope, Operation Desert Fox, and two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 1st Infantry Division. LTC Jones is a graduate of Airborne School and the Scout Platoon Leaders Course. His military education and schooling also includes the Armor Officer Basic and Advance Courses as well as the Command and General Staff College.

LTC Jones holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Military Arts and Sciences degree in Strategy from the Command and General Staff College. Some of his awards include the Bronze Star Medal (2OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5OLC), the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge.

LTC Jones has been married for 18 years to the former Kristin Johnson of Manassas, Virginia. They have three children: Abigail (13), Emily (11), and Peden (9)
