Training Focus
EWTGLANT conducts training particularly suited to the needs of the Operating Forces assigned to Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, Marine Forces Reserve and II Marine Expeditionary Force elements of the Operating Forces, and Navy commands which operate with, or in support of, landing forces. In addition, training is conducted which meets the requirements of other U.S. military units and allied components whose mission involves operations with landing forces.
Expeditionary Warfare Operations
The Expeditionary Training Department provides the preponderance of Staff Planning, Peace Keeping & Stability Operations, and MAGTF oriented training. More specifically, their focus areas include
- Operational and logistical planning for employment of Naval forces, to include:
- Command Relationships
- Fire Support Coordination
- Tactical Air Control Procedures
- Intelligence
- Communications.
- Tactics and techniques for employing Marine Air Ground Task Forces (MAGTFs)
- LCAC operations
MOS / NEC Training
EWTGLANT provides Military Occupational Specialty / Navy Enlisted Classification (MOS / NEC) training
for both officer and enlisted Marines and Navy personnel. The Fires Department trains the Tactical Air
Control Party (TACP) course which trains Marine aviation officers as air officers and forward air
controllers, qualifying them for MOS 7502.
Force Deployment Planning and Execution (FDP&E) trains Marines in the responsibilities and functional
support duties in the areas of Force Deployment Planning and Execution, qualifying them for MOS 0511. The
Synthetic Training Department Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) division has courses that train Naval
personnel in the area of Navigator ,
Craftmaster,
and Engineer.
The Ground Operations Specialist Course provides the required training to earn the 8711 Ground Operation Specialist MOS.
The Intermediate MAGTF Information Operations Practitioner's Course provides the academic training for both the MOS 0510 Information Operations Staff Officer and 0550 Information Operations Specialist.
Joint Expeditionary Tactical Trainer
- The Joint Expeditionary Tactical Trainer (JETT) provides integrated simulation and Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Collaboration, and Intelligence (C5I) systems support to operational commanders and their staffs to enhance the effectiveness of their training and improve their expeditionary warfighting capabilities.
- The JETT facility replicates expeditionary and fires command and control (C2) capabilities to provide a realistic training environment for a TACRON, PHIBRON, MEU, ESG and JTF staffs and fires elements.
- The JETT is capable of supporting multi-tier, distributed training through its scalable and flexible network architecture. It is interoperable with Joint exercise and experimentation simulation federations and the Joint National Training Capability via the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Tier 2 architecture. The JETT also houses the prototype for the Multi-Purpose Supporting Arms Trainer (MSAT).
Multipurpose Supporting Arms Trainer
The Multipurpose Supporting Arms Trainer (MSAT) facilitates tactical control or aircraft and other supporting arms. Students can practice with a variety of airframes and supporting arms and integrate environmental challenges such as low light, smoke, etc. into the problem. This system supports a variety of classes but is most frequently used in training the tactical Air Control Party and joint fires observer students.
Joint Intelligence Operations Center
- Integrate all-source analysis and fusion into exercises, courses, and training events
- Exercise Navy and Marine OP/INTEL teams
- Utilize current intelligence systems and software applications
- Train and exercise national / theater intelligence asset capabilities, format recognition, and requirements writing
- Leverage full-spectrum intelligence simulations
