101st Air Refueling Wing

Located in Bangor, Maine, the 101st Air Refueling Wing’s KC-135 Stratotanker mission is to provide the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and the Air Guard. This unique aircraft enhances the Air Force's capability to accomplish its primary missions of Global Reach and Global Power. It also provides aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft. The KC-135 is capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations.

<p>You've seen it in the movies you have five minutes to change a life or death situation: is it the red wire, or the blue? As an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Specialist, you'll know exactly what each of the thousands of wires in your assigned aircraft do, and how to solve the critical quick-decision crisis moments that arise. In this job, you'll inspect and evaluate aircraft electrical activities and determine operational status of the aircraft in your care. You'll become an expert in reading blueprints and schematics and learn the meaning of symbols used in wiring diagrams. You'll also handle, label and dispose of hazardous materials and waste according to local and federal environmental standards. <p>Whether it's at your local Air Guard unit or in a temporary disaster relief facility, electricity is vital to Air Guard operations. As an Electrical Power Production Specialist, it'll be your job to get it there and to keep the power supply fully functional. <p>Before that C-130 rolls down the strip, the Air Transportation Specialist makes sure it's packed tight with everything the troops will need to complete missions. From food, water and medical supplies to Humvees and helicopters, you'll be responsible for securely packing cargo so that it can be loaded and transported safely and quickly. You'll even be responsible for checking in passengers and baggage when the cargo is actually military personnel.
