Pandemic Influenza Planning
A pandemic is a global disease outbreak. An influenza pandemic occurs when a new influenza A virus emerges for which there is little or no immunity in the human population, begins to cause serious illness, and then spreads easily person-to-person worldwide.

While it is difficult to predict when the next influenza pandemic will occur or how severe it will be, the spread of a flu virus worldwide represents a significant threat to human health.  The effects of a pandemic can be lessened if preparations are made ahead of time. The following information is provided for DDESS communities, schools, individuals, and families to help us be prepared, stay healthy, and get informed.
