105th Airlift Wing

The mission of the 105th Airlift Wing, located at Steward Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, New York, is to support our nation's objectives by providing the Department of Defense with the highly skilled people and operationally ready equipment necessary to meet our wartime airlift and expeditionary combat support commitments. We fulfill this mission with our primary aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster III. The 105th is a leader within the state of New York and local communities in the use of advanced technologies, in responding to emergencies, and protecting the environment.

<p>As a Mobility Pilot, you'll master all aspects of advanced aviation and use those skills to fly C-130 Hercules aircraft, transporting everything from cargo to passengers to destinations all over the world. In this role, you'll perform navigation, in-flight refueling, and cargo and passenger delivery. You'll plan and prepare for missions; review mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information; and brief your crew. You'll ensure your aircraft is preflighted, inspected, loaded, equipped, and manned for mission. <p>Humvees and tanks, diplomatic dignitaries, field supplies or troops you'll encounter them all as an Aircraft Loadmaster. It's your job to get your aircraft loaded whether it's cargo or passengers deliver it safely to its destination, and get it unpacked. This role requires you to be a logistics expert in order to fulfill your mission and ensure the security of your charge at all times.</p><p>Aircraft Loadmasters are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Types, capacities, and configuration of transport aircraft</li><li>Arithmetic</li><li>Emergency equipment and in-flight emergency procedures</li><li>Personal equipment and oxygen use</li><li>Communications</li><li>Interpreting diagrams, loading charts, and technical publications</li><li>Border agency clearance dispensing and preserving food aboard aircraft</li><li>Cargo restraint techniques</li><li>Weight and balance factors</li><li>Principles of dispensing and preserving food aboard aircraft</li><li>Operation of cargo loading equipment</li><li>Cargo and personnel airdrop techniques and equipment</li><li>Establishing procedures for maintaining related records</li><li>Must pass physical qualification</li><li>Must qualify for aviation service, aviation and parachutist service, aeronautical ratings and badges</li><li>Must maintain eligibility to deploy and mobilize worldwide</li><li>Must maintain Secret security clearance</li></ul> Aircraft Loadmaster
