Congressman Ami Bera celebrated the Senate’s passage of S. 47 yesterday, a reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. Despite the bipartisan vote in the Senate, VAWA has been held up in the House of Representatives. Bera is a proud co-sponsor of HR 11, the House version of the Violence Against Women Act.
Earlier today Congressman Ami Bera urged members of Congress to be responsible, make good decisions, and not allow automatic across–the–board spending cuts to go into effect at the end of the month.

Earlier today Congressman Ami Bera voted for the Require a PLAN Act (H.R. 444). The bill requires the President to submit a balanced budget for fiscal year 2014 or to include in the budget he submits to Congress an estimate of what year the budget will be balanced. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 253-167 with the support of 227 Republicans and 26 Democrats.
Congressman Ami Bera officially opened his district office in Rancho Cordova on Monday, February 4, 2013. He will host an open house for the public at the office on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 11 am- 3 pm.
