About the Office of Satellite Data Processing and Distribution (OSDPD)


The Office of Satellite Data Processing and Distribution (OSDPD) is part of National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service (NESDIS). NESDIS is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Department of Commerce.

At this web site you will find information and links to OSDPD products and services in support of the NOAA mission to provide support to the public in the form of satellite imagery and derived satellite products.



Use of Data and Products

The information on government servers are in the public domain, unless specifically annotated otherwise, and may be used freely by the public so long as you do not 1) claim it is your own (e.g. by claiming copyright for NOAA information -- see below), 2) use it in a manner that implies an endorsement or affiliation with NOAA/NESDIS/OSDPD, or 3) modify it in content and then present it as official government material. Attribution of data and images to NOAA is requested.

You also cannot present information of your own in a way that makes it appear to be official government information.

Before using information obtained from this server special attention should be given to the date & time of the data and products being displayed.

The user assumes the entire risk related to its use of this data. OSDPD is providing this data "as is," and disclaims any and all warranties, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. As required by 17 U.S.C. 403, third parties producing copyrighted works consisting predominantly of the material appearing in NOAA Web pages must provide notice with such work(s) identifying the NOAA material incorporated and stating that such material is not subject to copyright protection.

Can I link to your site? Can you add a link to my site?

While you are free to link from your site to ours, we do not participate in "link exchanges" nor do we add links that are not directly related to the primary mission of the OSDPD site (i.e., directly related to OSDPD's role in the protection of life, property, and environment).

For links to sites outside of the control of the Federal government (including all .com, .net, .biz, and .edu domains, along with state and local government sites), the information or data must not be available from other Federal Internet sources. In addition, the links to non-Federal sites must meet all of the following criteria 1) links are necessary for and material to the presentation of agency information or the delivery of services in the proper performance of an agency function, and; 2) reasonable steps are taken to ensure the presentation is accurate, relevant, timely, and complete, and; 3) reasonable steps are taken to assure that links remain active or otherwise continue to provide the level of quality (including objectivity, utility, and integrity) as intended by the agency and expected by users.
