Officer Advanced Education Programs

Under the provisions of AR 621-1, Training of Military Personnel at Civilian Institutions, the mission of the Civilian Education Section is to execute full-time education programs (fully and partially funded) for active duty commissioned and warrant officers in civilian schools, commerce or industry, and service schools that offer accredited degrees (e.g. Naval Postgraduate School and Air Force Institute of Technology). The Civilian Education Section also executes training of active duty commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers at civilian industries.

  1. Our programs support the following Army goals:

    1. That all commissioned officers obtain a baccalaureate degree. Officers are also encouraged to obtain an advanced degree in a field related to their branch or functional area by taking part in off-duty educational programs. View other educational opportunities.
    2. To educate selected officers on a full-time basis for an advanced degree to meet needs validated by the Army Educational Requirements System (AERS), in accordance with AR 621-108.
    3. To retain quality officers through the Expanded Graduate School Program( EGSP) allowing officers to attend Graduate school in return for an additional Active Duty Service Obligation (ADSO) in accordance with AR 350-100.
    4. That all career warrant officers obtain their associate degree in a field related to their specialty by the time they reach their fifth year of service. Warrant officers are also encouraged to obtain a baccalaureate degree by the 13th year of warrant service in a field related to their functional specialty by taking part in off-duty educational programs.     5. To educate selected warrant officers on a full-time basis for an advanced degree to meet needs validated by the AERS.
    6. To educate officers and non-commissioned officers work with civilian industries in performing official duties.

  5. Please take note of the new email address for officers attending graduate school through the Advanced Civil Schooling Program. This consolidates all existing email addresses. Officers should send all correspondence (DA Form 1059-1; DA Form 2125 and any invoices) to this address.
  6. Officers in ACS should send their DA Form 2125 to usarmy.knox.hrc.mbx.opmd-army-acs@mail.mil and their DA Form 1059-1 to usarmy.knox.hrc.mbx.opmd-army-acs@mail.mil.
  7. Officers are required to submit a DA Form 2125 "after arrival at the school and at the end of each academic term." Failure to do so may delay tuition payment. Officers are required to submit a DA Form 1059-1 upon completing a master's degree or annually for a doctorate degree.
  8. You chose to become an Army officer, but your choices don't end there. As an ROTC or West Point cadet, you can chart your own career course via the Career Satisfaction Program (CSP). In exchange for an additional 3 year Active Duty Service Obligation (ADSO), the CSP provides three options to shape your Army experience. You may choose your Army basic branch or your first post of assignment. You may also opt for fully funded graduate school at one of the finest institutions of higher education in the world. ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Advanced Civil Schooling (ACS) Office will begin accepting Summer 2013 packets on 15 January 2013. The deadline for submitting Summer 2013 start packets to the ACS Office is 1 April 2013.  Packets should be submitted directly to your Branch Manager who will submit the packet to the ACS Office.
