Bonnie Apodaca

Bonnie Apodaca is CFO and Vice President of Business Operations for Sandia Corporation. The corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation that manages and operates Sandia National Laboratories, a multi-program Department of Energy research and development laboratory. The Business Operations Division she leads encompasses finance, accounting, procurement, property and logistics, business matrix operations, pension and savings fund management, contract management, Work for Others and Other Federal Agencies Agreements, and policy management services at Sandia. As a member of Sandia’s senior executive leadership team, she’s responsible for developing and executing financial strategies, teaming with others on the leadership team to build relationships with key customers, cultivate and develop new business, and provide reach-back to Lockheed Martin corporate resources.

Prior to her Vice-President role, Bonnie served for four years as Director of the Business Management Operations Center where she and her team provided business expertise, connections and efficiencies across the New Mexico site. Prior to that, she was Director of the Supply Chain Management Center. Her first position as a Director came with her service from 1998 to 2005 as Controller and Director of the Pension Management Center.

Through her roles, Bonnie has served as Program Lead for the Corporate Governance Policy Area and Policy Leader for Finance and Supply Chain at different times. She is the Secretary of the Sandia Pension Investment Committee.

Upon joining Sandia in 1988, Bonnie held positions in Auditing, The Controller Organization and The Remote Sensing and Verification Program before becoming a department manager in 1992 and then Director in 1999. Prior to joining Sandia, Bonnie was the controller for three separate companies in the construction, software, and utility industries. She also worked in public accounting establishing new business systems, providing tax services and conducting audits.

Bonnie earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Colorado with a concentration in accounting in 1982, and accomplished her CPA certification in 1985. She completed a Master’s in Business Administration in 1999 at the University of New Mexico while working at Sandia.

Bonnie is a member of the Central New Mexico Community College Accounting Advisory Board, has served for 15 years in the Manos Education Outreach Program. Bonnie is married to Len who is a high school teacher. They have one son who is a graduate student and served in the Marine Reserves. They all enjoy spending time together at their Colorado cabin and cheering for the Denver Broncos.
