In 1963 the Civil Aeronautics Board and Federal Aviation Agency created the National Aircraft Accident Investigation School at Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. The purpose of the school was to provide training for CAB accident investigators, FAA aviation safety inspectors, and members of the aviation industry. In 1971 this training was transferred to the Transportation Safety Institute, Aviation Safety Division.
