GOALS

The summer school in biophysics at ORNL targets senior undergraduate, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in "exact sciences" (physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, materials sciences, etc.) who are interested in considering biosciences as future career direction.

Our goal is

- to expose the participants to research opportunities at the interface of biological and physical & computational sciences by presenting grand-challenge biological problems that showcase the power of relevance of physical and computational sciences to important biological problems,

- while creating an interface through which the biological community can present the "exact sciences" community with problems that require advanced technical approach and therefore are highly interdisciplinary.
