COL Brant V. Dayley graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, and was commissioned as a Regular Army second lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery.

COL Dayley has held a variety of operational and staff assignments during his twenty three years of service. These include PATRIOT Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer, PATRIOT Fire Direction Section Officer-in-Charge, Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General, Fort Bliss, Texas; Assistant Division Air Defense Officer, 3rd Infantry Division, Bradley/Stinger Battery Commander in the 1st Infantry Division; Air Defense Analyst and Deputy Office Chief for Offensive Systems, Defense Intelligence Agency; Battalion and Brigade Operations Officer and as Missile Defense Policy Planner, J-5, The Joint Staff. COL Dayley later commanded the 1st Battalion (PATRIOT), 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, XVIII Airborne Corps; he then served as Director, Office of the Chief of Air Defense Artillery; Fires Division Chief and as the Director of Materiel, Headquarters Department of the Army, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Programs (G-8). COL Dayley assumed command of the US Army Garrison, Fort Bliss, on May 24, 2012.

COL Dayley's military education includes the Air Defense Officer Basic Course, the Armor Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School (CAS3), the Air Command and General Staff College (ACSC), and the National War College (NWC). He earned a Master of Science degree from Florida Institute of Technology, a Master of Military Operational Arts and Science (M.M.A.S.) degree from Air University, and a Masters degree in National Security Strategy from National Defense University.

His awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters).
