COMMANDER

 

COL Robert N. Dillon

 

Colonel Rob Dillon was born on February 26, 1966 in Hampton, Virginia. He completed his undergraduate studies at Christopher Newport University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Governmental Administration, with a concentration in Criminal Justice Administration, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps. He completed his graduate studies receiving a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Texas in 2002 and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College in 2011. He holds a graduate-level certification in Law Enforcement Intelligence Operations from Michigan State University.

His military education includes the Military Police Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3), Command and General Staff Officer Course, Army War College, Antiterrorism Program Manager Course, Airborne School, Air Assault School, and Jumpmaster School.

Colonel Dillon’s assignments include Platoon Leader, USMA MP Company, West Point, NY; Platoon Leader, Mainz Army Depot, Mainz, GE; Platoon Leader, 284th MP Company, Frankfurt, GE; Assistant S3, 709th MP Battalion, Frankfurt, GE; Commander, 284th MP Company, Frankfurt, GE; Plans Officer, 16th MP Brigade (Airborne), Ft Bragg, NC; Commander, 82d MP Company, Ft Bragg, NC; Detachment Commander and Exchange Officer, HQ Air Force Security Forces, Lackland AFB, TX; S3 and XO, 709th MP Battalion, Hanau, GE; Plans Officer, US Army Europe, Office of the Provost Marshal, Mannheim, GE; Command Deputy Provost Marshal of the US Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, VA; Commander, 709th MP Battalion, Grafenwoehr, GE; and Chief of Policy and Plans, Office of the Provost Marshal General.

He served in combat as S3 and then XO of the 709th MP Battalion in west Baghdad from March 2003 to March 2004 during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and as Commander of the 709th MP Battalion in eastern Afghanistan from March 2009 to March 2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (5OLC), Army Commendation Medal (OLC), Army Achievement Medal (OLC), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal (BSSD), Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 5), Valorous Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, NATO Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Master Security Forces Qualification Badge.

Colonel Dillon is married they have two children.
