Governors' Liaisons Network

The Governors' Liaisons Program is a U.S. Census Bureau partnership with the Governor of each state and the District of Columbia to:p

  • Increase accuracy in the decennial census
  • Decrease costs in the decennial census
  • Improve data collection and delivery in non-decennial years

The Governors' Liaisons Program was established in August 1997 with the Governor of each state to increase accuracy and decrease costs in Census 2000.

With the help of their respective Regional Office, the Census Bureau keeps the Governors' Liaisons informed of its work with local governments on its:

  • Geographic programs such as the Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS)
  • Update of school district and congressional district boundaries by participating state officials
  • American Community Survey coverage Program
