On behalf of the 1st Tank Battalion Marines and Sailors I want to take this opportunity to extend a warm “welcome aboard” to the battalion and this web site.
As the individual Marine or Sailor assigned to this battalion there is no more valuable resource to the success of our unit than you and your family. 1st Tank Battalion takes great pride in being ready to deploy anywhere in the world on a moment’s notice. In order to accomplish these missions we are dedicated to readiness, maintenance, and training. Within readiness, Family Readiness is of the utmost importance to the battalion as it is a “combat multiplier” and directly influences mission accomplishment.
I invite you to browse the Family Readiness page. There you will meet our Family Readiness Officer and be guided to an understanding of the mission of the Unit, Personal and Family Readiness Program. The program’s major role and responsibility is to help Marines, Sailors, and their families successfully balance the challenges of a military lifestyle, family, career, and mission events. Within Family Readiness you will find the Battalion newsletter, deployment information, as well as a web link to the city of 29 Palms.
While browsing the different areas of this web site you will read the battalion’s mission, my intent to all Marines and Sailors, and the history of our battalion. You will meet the Command Deck, the commanders, and senior enlisted Marines that you will work with to carry out the mission and write new pages of history.
Again, welcome aboard.
Lieutenant Colonel Poland
1st Tank Battalion
Commanding Officer
