TRICARE is available for Soldiers of the National Guard and their dependents that are AGR, only drilling, or Technicians on contract under one year. Enrollment is open all year around. AGR Soldiers

AGR Soldiers and their families are eligible for Prime, Prime Remote, and Standard/ Extra TRICARE programs. To qualify for Prime Remote you must live 50 miles or an hour drive AWAY from a Military Treatment Facility. The Standard/Extra program is given to drilling Soldiers and their families or families of AGR Soldiers.

Drilling Soldiers & Technicians

Drilling Soldiers and their families are only eligible for Tricare Reserve Select (TRS). This is a payment based option. The website for online enrollment is https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/trs/

Costs as of January 1st, 2012 are:

$54.35 for single drilling Soldiers

$192.89 for drilling Soldiers with 1 or more dependents

Technicians are only eligible for TRS in their first year of continuous Technician status. If a break in status occurs first year start over. When first year is over Technician must pick up insurance through Technician program.

 

All dependents eligible for TRICARE must be enrolled in DEERS and have an ID for insurance purposes.
