11479560 EEL RIVER AT FERNBRIDGE, CA — WEBCAM

This webcam is located at the USGS stream-gaging station on EEL RIVER AT FERNBRIDGE (see map). This station provides continuous monitoring of river stage. The webcam provides valuable information to the National Weather Service, first-responders, and area residents to evaluate real-time conditions in the creek channel during storms. The visual record of flooding also provides valuable research data for the USGS.

Our thanks to Humboldt Creamery, Fernbridge, CA, for their support in the location and installation of this webcam.

EEL RIVER AT FERNBRIDGE

When the 1320-foot bridge was built in 1911, it was referred to as the world's largest all-concrete span. Also called Eel River Bridge, Fernbridge is listed on the National Historic Register for its engineering significance during the period of 1900 to 1924. The Eel River has both State (1972) and Federal (1981) Wild and Scenic River status.

EEL RIVER AT FERNBRIDGE Gage

Shown here are the orifice lines and outside staff gages on the right bank of the Eel River. These are components of the USGS gaging station at this site. The depth of the water is proportional to the water pressure as measured at the orifice tip. The water-level data are continuously transmitted in real time to the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS).
