Arlington National Cemetery is open to the public every day from 8:00am to 7:00pm during the months April to September. During the months of October to March, the cemetery closes at 5:00pm.

The Botanic Gardens are located at 100 Maryland Avenue SW. The public is invited to walk through the gardens daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

The Holocaust Museum is located at 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place, S.W. (south of the Mall by the Washington Monument).  It is open every day 10am to 5:30pm, with the exceptions of Christmas Day and Yom Kippur. Tickets in advance are available through Ticketmaster, 1-800-551-7328. Same day tickets are available in limited quantity on a first come, first served basis. The Box Office is on the 14th Street side of the Museum and opens at 9:00 a.m. Tours are self-guided and can take up to 1 ½ to 3 hours.

The John F. Kennedy Center is located at New Hampshire NW and Rock Creek Parkway.  Regular tours are conducted by Friends of the Kennedy Center volunteers Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Tours begin every 10 minutes at the tour desk on the A level of the Kennedy Center.  If your party has 20 to 60 members, you can book a group tour. The Library of Congress is located at 101 Independence Avenue SE and offers an hour long tour of the historic Thomas Jefferson Building. Tours are given Monday through Saturday at 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm, and 3:30pm. No 3:30 p.m. tour on Saturdays. No advance reservations or tickets are necessary.  These free tours are open to individuals or groups smaller than 11. Metro Stops: Capitol South


Mount Vernon is the most visited historic estate in the U.S.  It is located 16 miles south of D.C. and eight miles south of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The public can tour the Mansion house and many of the other buildings through the estate. Mount Vernon is open to the public seven days a week April through August from 8:00am to 5:00pm, March, September, and October from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and November through February from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Tickets can be purchases on site or online.


The National Cathedral is located at Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenue NW. It is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 5:30pm with guided tours at 10am to 11:30am and 12:45pm to 4pm. Tours last about 30 minutes. The National Cathedral asks for a suggested donation of $5 for adults, $3 students, military, and seniors, and $15 per family.

The Pentagon is located at 1400 Defense Pentagon and offers an hour long tour. The tour route is approximately 1 ½ miles in distance. Tours are offered Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm, ever hour. Tours must be set 14 days in advanced and no more than 90 days of the date requested. The Smithsonian offers the world’s largest museum complex. There are 13 Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo to visit. All museums and the zoo are free and most are open to the public seven days a week from 10am to 5:30pm.


The Supreme Court is located 1 First Street NE and allows people to take a free self-guided tour of the building, not the courtroom. It is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 4:30pm. When the court is not in session there are free lectures every hour on the half hour Monday to Friday 9:30am to 3:30pm.  If you would like to attend a lecture, you should line up on the Front Plaza of the Supreme Court Building. There is no reservation necessary for a tour or lecture.
