Flight Safety: Mid-Air Collision Avoidance Flight Safety: Mid-Air Collision Avoidance

We, as aviators, all have the responsibility to be aware of potential conflicts and AVOID them!

When you consider that approximately 65% of all near mid-air collisions reported occur near airports, 15% on low-level training routes, and 10% in military operating areas, you can see that the "big sky" theory is not always the best approach in our saturated airspace.

You need to know where the "threat" is and how to scan for traffic conflicts. Take a look at the material we've provided, including our own pamphlet on avoiding mid-air collisions and the presentation that really goes in-depth into our mission and tactics in the local flying area. Additionally, there are images of the areas where our aircraft conduct their primary training and also some information from the Federal Aviation Agency.
tabFlight Safety Seminars
The Air Force Flight Test Center Flight Safety Office offers a traveling seminar on current development projects at the base, the R-2508 Complex, proper techniques to transit the special-use airspace and the principles of "see and avoid." Flight Safety can provide your pilot group of 30 or more with a seminar. Call (661) 277-2623 to set up a date.
