I was born in the year Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm decided to run for President. She came to my Church and I don't know why but I developed an interest in politics at an early age. I just love everything about the political process! I really do... Today since I am in DC, I could not resist going to Capitol Hill and visiting my Congressman (I really mean the Congressman I worked for in STL) Lacy Clay who was sworn-in to the 113th Congress and serves his 7th Term as a Congressman from the GREAT 1st Congressional District of MO.! While I was on "The Hill" I just had to see my favorite Rev. Congressman, The Honorable Emanuel Cleaver...I just LOVE him too because he honors God and still fulfills his duty as a Statesman, I am in awe of his "Righteous Spirit!" He is the past Chair of the CBC and now (as of today) my Soror Representative Marcia L. Fudge is the new Chair...I went by her office to say hi, but she was voting so I missed her. To mark this historic day, I stood in front of her office and captured a moment! In conclusion, God blessed me and I secured Gala tickets for the Inauguration and I am working on getting a seat at The National Day of Pray! Now ALL I need is to secure 1 more wish list item and my INAUGURATION WEEKEND will be on point! God ONLY YOU!<3

  3. Let’s call it for what it is; the chained CPI index is a reduction in Social Security benefits over time, a benefit older Americans earned through a lifetime of hard work.

The notion that seniors need less of an increase because they can reduce their living expenses is out of touch with reality. Health care costs consume a disproportionate share of their meager income and those costs continue to rise faster than inflation.

Moreover, since Social Security benefits do not contribute one dime to the national debt, they have no place in deficit reduction negotiations. I will not throw America’s seniors over the cliff to avoid the fiscal cliff.
  4. Words fail to describe the anguish so many of us feel following the tragedy in Connecticut with the loss of so many lives, including innocent children. I pray for the victims, their families and the first responders. I mourn for each and every child lost to senseless violence, in my district and throughout our nation. Let us all keep the people of Connecticut in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
  5. Happy 376th Birthday to the National Guard. Ohio has 15,000 plus members in its own Army and Air National Guard organizations, and there are over 450,000 members of the Army and Air National Guard nationwide. Thank you all for your service.
  6. Congress should #DoTheRightThing: protect middle class families & small businesses from tax increases now to solve #FiscalCliff
