The NIH business community using the ADB daily will find the new enhancements very helpful. A powerful, new Web-based interface is easy to use from Web browsers. Automatic features of the new Purchase Card Log provide an efficient way to log, reconcile and review NIH Purchase Card charges.
Staff who use the Web-based "Data Town" for many NIH business areassuch as, budget, procurement, travel, property, grants, and human resourceswill find an improved Web site. Staff can learn about expanded services and a convenient new reporting tool for the government purchase card.
Interface will be published online as Web Interface, beginning in March 2001. Subscribers will receive e-mail when issues are available on the Web.
Users will learn how to access e-mail via the Web, eliminate duplicate entries in the NIH global address list (GAL), and arrange for automatic replies when they are out of the office.
Critical application ownerswith applications running on the OS/390 systems or the Enterprise Open Systems (Unix)will learn about the new disaster recover y manager and the test schedule for 2001.
Macintosh users now can download Virexan antivirus softwarevia the Web. You are given detailed instructions for correctly installing, configuring, and getting regular updates of this software.
Owners who have or are planning a SILK customized server can now ensure security against electronic "eavesdropping"with a standard security protocol (SSL) that provides data encryption over the Web.
Administrators Can Prepare Now
Network administrators for LANs that have firewalls can learn the proper configuration for a VPS firewall port, in order to be ready for network printing from Titan.
ADABAS users will learn about recent changes in software support and upcoming upgrades, as well as how to get current Web-based news.
