COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR MARK E. PORRETT was born and raised in Port Huron, MI. He entered the US Army and completed Basic Training and Military Police Advanced Individual Training at Ft McClellan, AL in September 1984. Command Sergeant Major Porrett has served in numerous duty positions, including: M60 Light Machine Gunner, Driver, 977th Military Police Company, Fort Riley, KS; Senior Traffic Accident Investigator, Squad Leader, and Military Police Investigations Supervisor, US Army Field Station, Sinop, Turkey; Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant, 1st Military Police Company, Fort Riley, KS; Military Police Investigations Supervisor and Provost Marshal Operations Sergeant, 417th Base Support Battalion, Kitzingen, Germany; Platoon Sergeant, 3rd Military Police Company, Wuerzburg, Germany; Platoon Sergeant and Company Operations Sergeant, 511th Military Police Company, Fort Drum, NY; S-3 Sergeant Major, 10th Military Police Battalion (P), Fort Drum, NY; Operations Sergeant and First Sergeant, 127th Military Police Company, Hanau, Germany; Basic Military Police Training Division Sergeant Major for the Military Police School, Military Police Corps Personnel Proponency Sergeant Major; Command Sergeant Major of the 787th Military Police Battalion, Ft Leonard Wood, MO; Joint Detention Group Command Sergeant Major, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and is currently the Commandant of the Noncommissioned Officer Academy-Hawaii.

Command Sergeant Major Porrett’s Military and Civilian Educations includes: Basic Training, Military Police Course, Army Pre-commission Course, Special Reaction Team Sniper Course, Unit Armorer Course, Traffic Management and Accident Investigation Course, Primary Leader Development Course, Military Police Investigation Course, Basic Turkish Language Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Senior Noncommissioned Officer Refresher Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Air Assault Course, Basic German Language Course, Anti-terrorism/Force Protection Instructor Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Family Advocacy Staff Training Course, Protective Services Course, Cold Weather Survival Course, Basic Airborne Training Course, Civil Disturbance Course, Physical Security Course, Infantry Weapons Specialist Course, Aviation Survival Course, the US Army First Sergeant Course, and the US Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 55). He currently is working on a Bachelor’s Degree from Excelsior College.

Command Sergeant Major Porrett has deployed in support of several real world contingencies to Honduras, Panama, Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and Cuba. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm/Shield and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is also a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

Command Sergeant Major Porrett is married to the former Wadeana Davis.
