Area I Tax Center

Area I 2013 Tax Center

“So wait, all I have to do is go to do is visit my Area I tax office with my proper documents and they will help me file my taxes?”

“Yes, and when they e-file it you will get your return back much sooner than if you mail it in.”

There is no reason spending your time trying to figure out which document your taxes need to be reported on and which supplemental documents you need in order to report properly? Taxes can be confusing no matter how many times you have to do them. Never fear, the Area I tax center is here! All you need to do is bring your reporting documentation and various other items and a tax professional will help you file your taxes. The best part is, your taxes will be filed electronically, so if you are receiving a return, it will arrive a lot sooner than if you mailed it in.

Before you attempt to file your taxes, be mindful that the IRS is not ready to receive your taxes and will not be until 30 January 2013. This applies to you no matter who you are or where you are. Mailing in your taxes early will not speed up the process. The best thing to do is to e-file! When 30 January arrives, we will not all be out of the clear. If you are claiming residential energy credits, general business credits, or depreciating property then you will not be able to file until a later date. That date has not been determined by the IRS just yet, but check in with your Area I tax office and we will keep you posted!

Active duty personnel will be able to access their 2012 W-2 or 1099R tax statements as of 24 January 2013. The statements can be accessed at the MyPay website via AKO.
