US - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Standards in Trade Workshop

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) hosted a two-week United States-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Standards in Trade Workshop on February 24-March 6, 1997. The workshop was held at NIST's Gaithersburg, Maryland campus. Representatives from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates attended.
+ Objectives
- To familiarize participants with U.S. technology and practices in metrology, standardization, and conformity assessment.
- To become more familiar with practices in the GCC.
- To identify similarities and differences in our systems.
- To describe and understand the role of government and of the private sector in setting and using standards.
- To develop professional contacts as a basis for strengthening our technical ties and enhancing trade between our countries.
