Introduction
This module will focus on how to make sure that information conveyed by an application through animation is accessible to all users.
The Section 508 requirement covering this is: §1194.21 (h) When animation is displayed, the information shall be displayable in at least one non-animated presentation mode at the option of the user.
Animation can add entertainment and visual variety to an application, and in some cases provides an efficient mechanism for learning. But not everyone finds it helpful. Some users find it distracting, and for others, it may even make the application inaccessible. Meeting this requirement not only makes an application more accessible, but also represents good, courteous design that takes all users into account.
Remember, both testers and developers can use the checkpoints for this requirement to be sure the products they are working with will be accessible to users with disabilities, including those using assistive technology (AT).
