Testing for §1194.21 (g): Display Attributes

Back Next

Introduction

This module will discuss user-selectable display settings, including contrast and color, and provide methods of testing to be certain these settings are not disabled by an application.

The Section 508 requirement covering this is: §1194.21 (g) Applications shall not override user selected contrast and color selections and other individual display attributes.

Application functions must not disable or change user-selected display settings. Users with low vision or color blindness may only be able to see certain color combinations or they may work most efficiently with specific color and/or contrast settings. When an application disables these settings, the product becomes less accessible, and some people may not be able to use it at all.
