WASHINGTON – Members of the NM Congressional Delegation, Tom Udall, Martin Heinrich, Ben Ray Luján and Michelle Lujan Grisham, are asking President Obama to nominate a candidate to lead the Nuclear National Security Administration (NNSA) who will work with Congress to reform the agency and maintain the highest scientific and technical capabilities at Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Tom Vilsack, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture designated Torrance County, New Mexico as a primary natural disaster area due to drought. In addition, the Secretary named Bernalillo, Guadalupe, Lincoln, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Socorro, and Valencia counties as contiguous disaster counties.

Washington, DC – Today, the Democratic Caucus announced that Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) had been appointed to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement after her vote for H.R. 325, To ensure the complete and timely payment of the obligations of the United States Government until May 19, 2013, and for other purposes.  

“Today, while I would prefer to be voting for a long-term increase in the debt limit, I reluctantly voted in favor of the 3-month temporary debt limit suspension.  I voted yes because this legislation lifts the immediate threat of default.  But clearly, we must do better.

Wade decision, we reaffirm our commitment to standing up for a woman’s right to choose.  For the last 40 years, it has been the law of the land that women have a right to privacy and the right to make their own health care decisions. As we engage in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, we must ensure that women continue to have those rights and comprehensive health care, including access to safe and affordable contraception.”

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham was named to two subcommittees on the Agriculture Committee for the 113th Congress. She will serve on the Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight and Nutrition and the Subcommittee on Livestock, Rural Development and Credit.

“I’m proud that we put partisanship aside to put the victims of Hurricane Sandy first. This long-awaited aid package, while not perfect, will help families and businesses get the resources they need to begin rebuilding their homes and work places and finally return people to their communities.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Tom Vilsack, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture named 19 New Mexico counties as primary natural disaster areas due to drought, including Santa Fe County which is partially in Congressional District 1. In addition, the Secretary named 9 contiguous disaster counties, including Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance and Valencia, all of which have portions in the 1st District.
