Crime Prevention Research Working Group
The National Institute of Justice has established an interdisciplinary working group to discuss and identify research issues, questions and gaps to be addressed in the field of crime prevention research. Working group members representing both researcher and practitioner communities.
Each participant should be considered an expert in the area of crime prevention, either from an academic or practitioner perspective. The juxtaposition of research and practitioner offered an opportunity to address issues from two different but related perspectives.
Two meetings of the working group have been held. Review summaries, presentations and papers related to those meetings:
- 2011 Meeting — Research Issues, Questions and Gaps
- Meeting summary and presentations.
- The Future of Crime Prevention: Developmental and Situational Strategies (pdf, 60 pages), background paper prepared by Brandon C. Welsh, School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Northeastern University, and David P. Farrington, Institute of Criminology, Cambridge University.
- 2006 Meeting — Situational Crime Prevention Research Planning Meeting
- Unresolved Issues for Crime Prevention Research (pdf, 70 pages), background paper prepared by Stephen P. Lab, Criminal Justice Program, Bowling Green State University.
