The mission of the Eastern Forest Environmental
Threat Assessment Center is to generate, integrate,
and apply knowledge to predict, detect, and assess
environmental threats to public and private forests
of the east, and to deliver this knowledge to managers
in ways that are timely, useful, and user friendly.
Global
Monitoring for Disease Outbreaks - Videocast
Presentation by Dr. James Wilson (Nov 29, 2007)
Georgetown University Medical Center. Imaging Science and Information Systems.
Global detection and tracking system for the early detection of biological events. Uses non-traditional data to detect outbreaks of human, animal and plant diseases.

The Nature Conservancy. iMapInvasives.
iMapInvasives is a tool to serve the needs of
land managers, regional planners and others working to
prevent, control or manage invasive species. A consortium
was formed to develop, support
and maintain an on-line, GIS-based, all-taxa invasive
species mapping tool. A particular emphasis is placed
on functionality designed to aid in Early
Detection/Rapid Response (EDRR) efforts.

MetroInvasive.
Collaborative project between Federal Agencies and Universities researchers.
Provides a perspective that considers urban areas as hubs of human-mediated invasions
in natural and managed ecosystems and provides resources to enhance our understanding
of the role of international trade in the dissemination of invasive species.
Contains maps of hot spots for human-mediated invasions where early detection
strategies could be implemented.
