See What IRS Has to Offer Mature Workers — It All Adds Up!

The Internal Revenue Service was recently invited to join AARP's National Employer Team (NET) as one of three federal agency charter members (along with SBA and Peace Corps). The NET is a program that aims to match workers over age 50 with employers who need and value their potential contributions. IRS of course already recruits mature workers for most of our positions. Mature workers have long been valued by our managers for their experience and reliability.

Career & Job Opportunities Available
With well over 700 offices across the nation, the IRS has full-time career opportunities for mature workers with a wide range of backgrounds, including accounting, business, finance, customer service, information technology, and many more. For more information about our professional careers, click here.

We also have seasonal and temporary jobs during the tax filing season (primarily January through May) as: 1) clerks, 2) data transcribers, 3) tax examiners, and 4) contact representatives. For more information about these opportunities, including locations, click here.

Exceptional Benefits for Mature Workers
IRS offers an impressive array of outstanding benefits. Of special interest to mature workers are:

  • Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), including the unique 401(k)-type Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). New employees can roll-over qualifying IRA’s into the TSP – enjoy great returns and extremely low maintenance fees!
  • Generous Health and Life Insurance Plans – neither program includes exclusions for pre-existing conditions.
