Reasonable Accommodation Resource Center (RARC)

A One-Stop Shop for Accommodating Employees with Disabilities

The Reasonable Accommodation Resources Center (RARC) operates as a clearinghouse for information and assistance and assessing and obtaining products and/or services to accommodate DOL employees and applicants with disabilities.  The Center serves as a “One-Stop Shop” for DOL personnel seeking accommodation related information and services, and decreases the time DOL staff spends securing accommodations, among other benefits.  The RARC expands services previously under the Central Office for Assistive Services and Technology (COAST).

Services and information available through the RARC include:

  • Needs Assessments
  • Alternative Formats
  • Equipment/Assistive Technology
  • Information and Referral Services
  • Workplace Personal Assistance
  • Federal Relay Service
  • Point of contact for DOL’s partnership with the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP)

In addition to the RARC a Departmentwide Centralized Accommodation Fund (CAF) has been established to provide funding to enhance the range of services under the RARC.
