Biochemical Conversion Program

Biochemical conversion of biomass to fuels has become increasingly important as climate and energy security issues challenge our nation’s dependence on conventional energy sources. Sandia’s biochemical conversion program team works closely with industrial, university, and research lab partners to develop the foundation for the next generation of biochemical conversion technologies – including advanced biomass pretreatment, enzymes, advanced imaging and spectroscopy, metabolic engineering, fuels synthesis, bioinformatics, systems analysis, techno-economic modeling, and fuels synthesis.
