Director, Office of the Director, NCI
Provides leadership and strategic planning for the Frederick National Lab and works
with the NCI Director. Dr. Craig W. Reynolds serves as Associate Director of the
Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (formerly NCI-Frederick). Working
closely with the NCI Director, Dr. Harold Varmus, and NCI division directors, Dr.
Reynolds is responsible for ensuring that the Frederick National Lab resources are used as is
best for the NCI and its partners, which include other institutes within the National
Institutes of Health (NIH), and the broader biomedical research community. Dr. Reynolds
also helps inform the NCI/NIH of the rich diversity of scientific research opportunities
and biotechnology resources available at the Frederick National Lab, develops and
implements a master plan for the Frederick campus, and reaches out to and engages
the local community.

Directs, coordinates, and develops policy for Frederick National Lab scientific
programs.
Assesses CCR's scientific needs and allocates scientific resources, conducts strategic
planning, manages space and renovations, and facilitates scientific site visit reviews
at the Frederick National Labk.
Plans, directs, and coordinates NCI management activities at Frederick, including
contracts and procurement.
Technology Transfer Branch (TTB)
Promotes technology transfer and scientific partnerships among National Institutes
of Health (NIH) laboratories/scientists, industry, and academia.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), a component of the National Institutes of Health
(NIH), is committed to forging scientific partnerships with industry, academia and
nonprofit organizations to accelerate the pace of medical research and the application
of that knowledge to improve the Nation’s health.
These scientific partnerships benefit the NIH laboratories and the partnering outside
organizations by making personnel, services, facilities, expertise, material, and
equipment accessible to both partners.
