RTIPs Program Use Agreement

The Research-tested Intervention Programs (RTIPs) Web site was developed as part of the Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T., a Web portal or "doorway" linking you to Web sites that have been developed or reviewed by the U.S. Government in order to provide the cancer control planning, research and program staff the most up-to-date and scientifically valid information available about comprehensive cancer control. Information provided on these programs and products is derived from published reports in peer-reviewed publications.

RTIPs provides examples of evidence-based intervention programs and associated products developed and tested by researchers in the field for intended use by program staff, researchers and cancer control planners. RTIPs neither endorses nor recommends any of the products, processes, or services listed. Rather the information provided is to help you make an informed decision about the best program options to meet your cancer control needs. The views and opinions of authors expressed on this Web site do not necessarily state nor reflect those of the U.S. Government, and they may not be used for advertising or product endorsement purposes.

It is not the intention of RTIPs to provide specific medical advice to individuals, but rather to provide users with information to better understand complex cancer problems at the community, regional and state level, and options for addressing these problems with scientifically-tested intervention programs. It is also important to understand that the program's effectiveness was evaluated within a research study, which is a highly controlled situation. It is expected that users of a particular program or set of materials may need to adapt the program for your own audience and setting.

Program Adaptation Guidelines are made available by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and are intended for anyone adapting or implementing a program found on the RTIPs Web site. While use of the Guidelines is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended that those choosing to use the program materials found on this Web site review these Guidelines carefully. The Guidelines provide tips on how to ensure a program's optimal success in your community's setting when adapting materials that were designed and tested within a controlled research study.
