ODR’s Paintball Field, located on Conn Barracks, is open year-round on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your own equipment or rent from us, but the paintballs must be purchased from ODR. Group functions are available upon request.
No matter what outdoor sport you are in to, you won’t want to pass up the equipment and information at ODR! The center has a wide selection of rental equipment, including top-of-the-line bicycles, kayaks, skis, and camping and party supplies. ODR organizes group excursions for skiing/snowboarding, wine tasting and more. Call us for a current schedule of trips.
The role of ODR within the community is to enhance quality experiences for families and civilians supporting total Army well-being. Outdoor Recreation is recognized as a contributing factor to military mission readiness. As Soldiers become more familiar and skilled with their outdoor recreation pursuits, participants acquire practical skills in natural environments similar to those where their military mission may take them. Additionally, ODR can provide high adrenaline safe alternative activities during redeployment and reintegration from combat.

Fishing in Germany
German fishing license (proof of knowledge and having passed the test) and fishing permit (permits fishing in certain areas but is only issued if fishing license has been obtained). Fishing without the required documents is considered poaching, and violators could be fined.
Members of the U.S. Forces may only fish in waters where water-right holders have issued fishing permits and in areas that are specified on the fishing permit. Applicants for a juvenile fishing license in Baden-Württemberg, Bayern, and Rheinland-Pfalz must be at least 10 years old. Applicants in Hessen must be at least 12 years old.
If you would like to fish in Germany, you need the following items:
(1) Two copies of AE Form 215-145B Application for German Fishing License, signed by the applicant's commander (download from AE Publications Website)*
(2) A copy of AE Form 215-145C Certificate of Examination, issued by a U.S. Forces hunting and fishing program office after successful completion of fishing course (see below).
(3) A passport-size photograph.
License - With the above in hand you go to your local Ordungsamt (public administration office) at the Rathaus (town hall) or Landratsamt (county hall). These German authorities issue fishing licenses provided you have the three required items and ??? Euros for processing.
Permit - Permits are issued to allow fishing in a particular body of water or river. Check with your Rod & Gun Club on who to contact for fishing permits. If there is a particular body of water or river you are interested in you may also check with the local Rathaus or Landratsamt (where you obtained the license). They will be able to tell you the fishing rights holder is and who to contact them. Some bodies of water or rivers are under control of the Rathaus or Landratsamt and you may be able to get the permits at that same office.
Completing the Fishing Course - In order to obtain a fishing license U.S. Forces personnel will have to attend an accredited fishing courses of at least 30 hours of instruction on general ichthyology, specialized ichthyology, hydrology, fishing equipment, and fishing laws. Courses will be offered by your Rod & Gun Club (RGC) in spring (March or April) and in fall (September or October). Course subjects and minimum presentation times are mandatory. Course participants must attend all presentations, either on the scheduled date or on a make-up date, to be permitted to take the fishing examination.
The fishing instructors will maintain a daily sign-in roster for all instructional sessions for the fishing course and will submit the sign-in roster to the appropriate U.S. Forces hunting and fishing program office on the day of the examination.
U.S. Forces hunting and fishing program offices will schedule and conduct examinations for fishing courses. U.S. Forces hunting and fishing program offices will issue AE Form 215-145C to participants who successfully complete the fishing course and pass the test.
