Mr. Robert T. Wright is currently serving as the Deputy Garrison Commander for Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia.

He directs the daily execution of one of the most comprehensive multidisciplinary organizations in the Army.  Operating equivalent to a "city manager," his principal duties are to manage base facilities, programs, services and infrastructure sustainment for a Regional Collective Training Center, with throughput of over 92,000 customers that includes extensive SOCOM and various other 3 letter US Government agency tenant activities.   He provides oversight of a $50 million annual budget, over 250 employees, and over seventy six thousand  acres of land and associated facilities.  Functional programs include range and training area support operations; public works; logistics; morale, welfare and recreation; environment; provost marshal operations; fire protection and safety; equal employment opportunity; installation safety; community relations and public affairs.

Prior to being selected for Ft A.P. Hill Mr Wright served as a Regional Installation Support Senior Team Specialist (RIST) with Atlantic Region of Installation Management  Command at Ft Eustis, Virginia.  His specialty included working on the Team that built Garrison organizations for AMC Installations that were being transferred to Installation Management Command management.  In addition He planned and conducted Region Team building Civil War site Staff Rides.  Prior to assignment to Atlantic Region Mr. Wright was assigned to Japan.

Assignment to Okinawa, Japan as the Garrison Manager followed Hawaii and included direct oversight of 7 army occupied Installations and over 5000 Soldiers, dependents and Retirees that live on the island of Okinawa.  Position included interaction with local Japanese Government Officials and daily interaction with the senior Mission Commander.

Before being assigned to Japan Mr. Wright served as the Deputy Garrison Commander at Pohakuloa Training Area on the Big Island of Hawaii. A multi-DOD and other Government agency 138,000 acre training and range area.   Previously, he completed a four-year tour in South Korea, assigned as the Deputy Garrison Commander at Camp Hialeah in Pusan.  Additionally, he has worked in various jobs before returning to government service as an Army Civilian following his retirement from Active Duty service.

Mr. Wright retired from the Army in 1994 at the rank of Colonel.  During his officer assignments during his military service include Joint Staff assignments in the Continental United States, Panama, and South Korea.  His commands include two Armored Cavalry Troops, an Air Assault Infantry Battalion, a Basic Combat Training Company, and a student company at the US Army War College.  He has also served as an Armored Cavalry Squadron Executive Officer.  His combat experience includes three tours in Vietnam as a Tank Platoon Leader, a Tank Company Executive Officer, and as a senior advisor to both a Vietnamese Armored Cavalry Squadron in the 1st Armored Cavalry Regiment and the 33rd Vietnamese Ranger Battalion (Airborne).  His enlisted service prior to attending the Armor Officer Candidate School at Fort Knox, Kentucky, includes an assignment as a Drill Sergeant.  Colonel (Retired) Wright’s military decorations include the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Two Bronze Stars, three Purple Hearts, Four Army Commendation Medals, three with “V” Device for Valor, and two Vietnamese Crosses of Gallantry.

He was born in the State of Massachusetts and is married to his wife, Victoria, who is an aspiring golf professional.
