Welcome to the Passport & Citizenship Unit of the U.S. Embassy Athens.  Passport services are available by appointments Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 12:30 pm.  The passport unit also offers assistance over the phone Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

Special Note on Passport Applications
Applicants must fully complete all mandatory questions on the passport application in English.  Should you need assistance filing out a form, please call the passport from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
(Please note, the Consular section is closed on the last Wednesday of each month and on U.S. and Greek Holidays.)
Processing time and delivery
Processing time is approximately a week to ten days from the day of application.  Passports may be picked up from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Friday.  The unit is closed to the public on U.S. and Greek Holidays and the last Wednesday of each month.  If it is not possible for you or someone designated by you to pick up your passport, please bring or send a pre-paid envelope for registered mail which you must purchase from a local post office (ELTA).  Alternatively, your passport may be returned to you by courier, payable on the day of application if you apply in person, or upon delivery if you apply by mail.

Please Note:
The head (measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin) should measure between 1 inch to 1 3/8 inches (25 mm to 35 mm) with the eye level between 1 1/8 inch to 1 3/8 inches (28 mm and 35 mm) from the bottom of the photo. Examples may not print to size.
Please do not staple the photograph on the application.
