Mobile Education and Training Team (METT)

The Mobile Education and Training Team (METT) Courses are supplementary to the resident NATO School (NSO) courses, and they are created to meet specific needs of a NATO organization, nation or partner. METT Courses are fully in line with the NSO mission and they follow the same guiding principles as the resident courses. The following priorities are assigned to METT Courses:

Supporting an operational need (eg. ISAF training).
Providing additional educational places to an organization that cannot be met as part of the routine bid and allocation procedures at the NATO School.
Supporting transformation goals.
Supporting partnership and cooperation goals.

METT Courses are delivered through a flexible process that generally has the following phases:

Planning
Request for a METT Course is validated for feasibility (alignment with NSO mission, academic content, time, funds, etc.), objectives are defined, and METT is scheduled in a flexible NSO METT Annual Plan.
Preparation
Detailed preparations take place and a Technical Agreement with a requesting and/or funding authority is signed.
Execution
METT Courses are delivered in accordance with the signed Technical Agreement.
Evaluation
METT Course achievements are evaluated and a report is produced.

A request for a METT Course should be extended not later than 4 months before intended execution of the course. However, some specific METT Courses for partners that involve NATO funding may require earlier application time to allow proper decision making within relevant partnership structures.

Mission

Mission:

The Mission of the OUTREACH Department is to coordinate and facilitate NATO School Oberammergau (NSO) military cooperation and outreach in accordance with NSO mission and cooperation policies.

OUTREACH fulfills its Mission by performing various tasks in following major areas of responsibility:

POLICY ADVISING: Advising on military cooperation and outreach policies, as well as the external and internal communication of these policies
OUTREACH COORDINATION: Internal and external coordination of NSO cooperation processes and activities
OUTREACH EXECUTION: Execution of specific military cooperation and outreach activities
SPECIFIC NATO OPS SUPPORT: Coordination and execution of activities in direct support of NATO operations within the NSO scope of activities, when these activities require a significant degree of military cooperation
SPECIFIC NATO OUTREACH SUPPORT: Coordination and execution of specific activities in support of NATO cooperation and outreach initiatives and programs
