Goal:

Support the Ministry of Health in improving weak health information systems.

Project Objectives:

  • Assist in implementation of new systems so that managers and care providers at all levels use to produce quality data and use the information for planning and management of health services
  • Establish computerized data processing and reporting system at national levels and local levels in SNNPR
  • Provide technical support to Ethiopian Ministry of Health and other government institutions to scale up HMIS

Description:

USAID’s National Health Management Information System (HMIS) scale-up project provides technical assistance training staff on the HMIS at regional, zonal and district level health offices and facilities. The project also supports building capacity within the system to utilize data gathered from HMIS in decision making. Information gathered via HMIS is critical to the documentation of current health services and disease patterns, in addition to being an essential component in planning future health interventions.

  • Leadership capacity building on HMIS information use for regional and zonal managers
