On October 10, in Rio de Janeiro, USAID's partner in the Enter Jovem Plus Program (EJP), Instituto Empreender held an Employability Week in order to gather students from the program to discuss the placement of people with disabilities in the labor market. According to EJP's Employability Coordinator, Fatima Ribeiro, the goal of the event was to prepare young people for the labor market, offer tips on how to participate in selection processes, mediate contacts with various human resources professionals, and also discuss issues such as discrimination and accessibility.

Participants included representatives of Dataprev (Information Technology and Social Security Company), L'Oréal, Center for Independent Living (CVI), and the School-Business Connection Center (CIEE). Elizabeth Caetano, from CVI, spoke about the importance of empowering people with disabilities (PWD), and drew the students' attention to limits that are imposed by PWD themselves: "the job market requires people to be trained and this is also true for people with disabilities," said Elizabeth.

During her presentation, Tatiana Oliveira, from CIEE, highlighted that it is important to consider one's professional profile and skills before choosing a career. Genesson Honorato, L'Oréal representative, left a motivation message to the students: "We can make things happen in our lives, it depends only on us, and on nobody else."
