Warden Message - Demonstrations March 20, 2011
We believe that large demonstrations will take place throughout Morocco on March 20, 2011. Turnout is uncertain and hard to predict. Downtown areas of some cities may be restricted. It will be prudent to expect road closures and traffic jams.
While these disturbances appear to be triggered by economic and political concerns, and not directed toward Western tourists, travelers in these areas are urged to remain alert to local security developments and to be vigilant regarding their personal security. It is best to avoid all demonstrations, as even peaceful ones can quickly become unruly and a foreigner could become a target of harassment or worse.
To date, minor demonstrations have occurred in Morocco on a regular basis, and travelers should avoid these or other large gatherings.
