CNA students at Job Corps

Academics

In addition to career training, Penobscot Job Corps also provides academic training, including basic reading and math. Courses in independent living, employability skills, and social skills are offered in order to help students transition into the workplace. We also have several academic programs to help our students achieve their full potential.

GED/High School Diploma

One of our top goals at Penobscot Job Corps is to ensure that every qualified student obtains his or her GED/high school diploma prior to leaving the center. Students who don't already have a high school diploma upon their arrival at Penobscot can enroll in our GED/high school program.

Advanced Career Training

Our Advanced Career Training (ACT) Program is for the college bound student. After the successful completion of your career technical training, you can participate in the ACT program. Students who want to enroll in one of four local colleges will be eligible for an additional year of services at Penobscot Job Corps. ACT students benefit from our continued residential services and will receive assistance selecting the right college, filling out college applications and financial aid forms, and purchasing books.
