Security is of the highest of concern for NFC and our customers. We realize that we must remain vigilant regarding this priority in all initiatives that we undertake. We value our trust relationship with our customers and do not take it lightly.
NFC complies with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), to ensure that data is protected from unauthorized access, malicious or inadvertent modification, disclosure, and disruption; that information systems are properly developed, maintained and secured; and that system Certification and Accreditations are completed every three years or when major changes are made.
NFC also works diligently to secure Personally Identifiable Information (PII) by providing adequate training and information to employees on the subject. In addition, supervisors are required to periodically inspect work areas to ensure adherence to PII safeguarding policies and procedures, and NFC periodically applies automated security updates to employee workstations to effectively protect our network and data.
NFC’s Information Technology Security Directorate (ITS) is responsible for the protection of NFC’s data from unauthorized access, and intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, disruption and destruction of data. They ensure data integrity, data confidentiality, and data availability via definition, verification, and distribution of security access to authorized personnel only. ITS oversees NFC’s IT Security standards program, including implementation and review of standards, technical bulletins, and advisory notes for all IT Security activities.
