The USAISR is currently participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Personnel Demonstration Project.

Among other features, the Demonstration replaces GS grade levels with occupational families and paybands.

Future pay increases within a payband are accomplished through a pay for performance system based on an employee's individual performance.

USAISR Position Recruiting

The Institute hires a variety of personnel and positions from among the available series within the Civil Service System as well as contracted personnel hired to perform varied tasks. Below are the types of positions the Institute recruits for:

• PhD Researchers (Physiologists, Chemists, Microbiologists)
• Nurses (RNs and LVNs)
• Technicians (Medical and Research)
• Administrative Clerical
