OMB Chief Issues Memorandum to Procurement Officials Regarding Inter-agency Aquisitions

Encouraging agencies to reduce waste by leveraging their "own buying power," the Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Dan Gordon, issued guidance designed to reduce duplication in acquisitions by increasing interagency contracting and information sharing.  This came out as a memorandum to Chief Acquisition Officer and Senior Procurement Executives on September 29, 2011.  As we discuss in the video series, this represents the type of communication that successful contractors need to stay tuned in to.

Take a Minute to Understand 8(a) Set-asides

Section 1331 of the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 authorized discretionary use of set-asides against multiple award contracts (i.e. Multiple Award Schedules).  This includes setting-aside orders to 8(a) contractors. The provision did not authorize the use of sole-sourcing under the various small business programs.
