- BitesizeBio - Bitesize
Bio provides concise articles and web seminars packed with insight from
experienced researchers and other experts, to help researchers develop their
skills and succeed in their careers.
- Imagine Science
Films - This is a non-profit organization committed to promoting a
high-level dialogue between scientists and filmmakers. ISF encourages a greater
collaboration between scientists who dedicate their lives to studying the world
we live in and filmmakers who have the power to interpret and expose this
knowledge, ultimately making science accessible and stimulating to a broader
audience.
- Science Daily - a
comprehensive website about all things science
- Science
Matters - a website from the National Science Teachers Association to
help promote science literacy in young and old alike
IMAGES
- Google Images - The
premier search engine provides access to millions of images.
- NCBI Images
Database - This database will allow users to search millions of
scientific images from NCBI full text resources, including images from PubMed
Central.
- Public Health Image
Library (PHIL) - CDC's free file of photos, illustrations, and videos
about public health. The content is organized into hierarchical categories of
people, places, and science. Images are designated "public domain" or
"Copyright Protected."
HEALTH
- Healthfinder - This
site has resources on a wide range of health topics selected from over 1,600
government and non-profit organizations to bring you the best, most reliable
health information on the Internet. Free interactive tools let you check your
health, get personalized advice, and keep track of your progress.
- Lab Tests Online
- This site, sponsored by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, has
been designed to help patients or family caregivers to better understand the
many clinical lab tests that are part of routine care as well as diagnosis and
treatment of a broad range of conditions and diseases.
- Let's Move - This
website is a comprehensive initiative, launched by First Lady Michelle Obama,
dedicated to solving the problem of obesity within a generation, so that
children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their
dreams.
- MEDgle - Search your
symptoms with a visual mechanism or traditional search to find a possible
diagnosis.
- Health On the Net Foundation
- The Health On the Net Foundation (HON) promotes and guides the deployment of
useful and reliable online health information, and its appropriate and
efficient use. Created in 1995, HON is a non-profit, non-governmental
organization, accredited to the Economic and Social Council of the United
Nations.

SAVING MONEY
- Gas Buddy - GasBuddy helps
find cheap gas prices in various cities. In total, there are 243 websites to
help users find low gasoline prices.
- SNAP-Ed Recipe
Finder - Search this database of healthy and inexpensive recipes
submitted by nutrition and health professionals and organizations. This site is
sponsored by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), part of the
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
FAKES & FRAUDS
- Health
Fraud - a website from the Food and Drug Administration that provides
accurate advice on consumer health products and medicines
- Quackwatch - an
international network of people who are concerned about health-related frauds,
myths, fads, fallacies, and misconduct. Its primary focus is on
quackery-related information that is difficult or impossible to get
elsewhere.
- Snopes - the definitive
Internet reference source for urban legends, folklore, myths, rumors, and
misinformation
SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY
- AALAS
Technician Training Resources - This is a list of resources excerpted
from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Technician
Certification Handbook which has been compiled by the Scientific Library staff.
Some resources link to full text and/or Library availability in print.
- Conference Papers
Index - This provides citations [not full text] to papers and poster
sessions presented at major scientific meetings. Updated bimonthly, coverage is
from 1982. Since 1995, subject emphasis has been in the life sciences,
environmental sciences, and aquatic sciences; older material also covers

- Journal
Citation Reports - Accessed via Thomson's Web of Knowledge interface,
this database provides Impact Factors and journal rankings, to help evaluate
scholarly journals, using citation data from over 8,400 journals.

- NIH Videocasting and
Podcasting - The Center for Information Technology (CIT) makes special
NIH events, seminars, and lectures available to viewers on the NIH network and
the Internet from this site.
- Off-site Access
Login - The Scientific Library provides access to all of its electronic
resources (journals, books, and databases). Simply log in with your NIH network
user name and password or your Scientific Library barcode.

- Café Press - An
online shopping experience where users can find unique science gifts, including
t-shirts, canvas bags, stationary, and more.
- Hulu - Watch your favorite
videos right from your browser, anytime, for free. It includes full episodes of
TV shows both current and classic, full-length movies, web originals, and clips
of just about everything.
- Roman
Numeral Converter - Convert an Arabic number to a Roman numeral and
vice versa.
- Stop, You're Killing
Me! - A resource for lovers of mystery, crime, thriller, spy, and
suspense books. More than 3,500 authors and 39,000 titles are included.
- Timeline
Widget - This open source tool allows you to make interactive
