Kevin Glave, a native of Winter Haven, FL entered Marine Corps Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC in July 1993. Upon completion of recruit training and Marine Combat Training, he attended the Basic Music Course at the Armed Forces School of Music in NAB Little Creek, Virginia. Lance Corporal Glave was then assigned to the 2nd Marine Division Band at Camp Lejeune, NC as a euphonium instrumentalist.
GySgt Glave was promoted to the rank of corporal in July 1995. During his tour with the 2nd Marine Division Band, Cpl Glave served as a fire team leader and section leader. In July 1996, Cpl Glave was assigned to the III MEF Band at Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan as an instrumentalist, section leader, fire team leader and squad leader. He was a featured soloist with the band on several occasions and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in December 1996. In July 1997, Sgt Glave was assigned to Marine Band Albany, GA as an instrumentalist. Sgt Glave would also serve as a Section Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Guide, Platoon Sergeant and the band’s first webmaster.
In October 1999, Sgt Glave was a student at Marine Corps Recruiters School in San Diego, CA and was then transferred to Recruiting Sub-Station Tallahassee, FL as a canvassing recruiter. During his tour of duty, he recruited over 80 individuals into the Marine Corps. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in March 2000.
In September 2003, SSgt Glave was assigned to the Navy School of Music to received advanced instruction at the Ceremonial Conductor / Drum Major Course. Upon completion of this six month training, he would remain and attend the Arrangers Course. Upon completion of this, SSgt Glave was transferred to Marine Forces Reserve Band in New Orleans, LA as an instrumentalist and platoon sergeant. He also served as the Acting Enlisted Conductor before being selected as a Small Ensemble Leader in February 2006. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in July 2007.
In August 2007, GySgt Glave transferred to the Navy School of Music in Norfolk, VA where he was branch head of Basic Academics, supervising all daily MOS academic instruction and training to entry level students as well as provide guidance, training and guidance to all MOS academic instructors. He was also responsible for reviewing and evaluating all basic academic core curriculums as required. Gunnery Sergeant Glave reported to his present duty station as the Small Ensemble Leader of the Quantico Marine Band in October 2010.
Gunnery Sergeant Glave’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2th award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Joint Meritorious Unit commendation, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment, and Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon.

Gunnery Sergeant Joshua V. Mitchell
Instrument Repair Technician
Joshua Mitchell grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Hazelwood East High School in 1993. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and left for MCRD San Diego in June 1993. After boot camp, he proceeded to the Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, VA.
LCpl Mitchell was then assigned to the 1st Marine Division Band in Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as a french horn instrumentalist from 1994 through 1997, and was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Cpl Mitchell was then transferred to MCLB Albany, GA, where he served for 6 years. During his time there he served in a variety of billets throughout the band, and earned the ranks of Sergeant and Staff Sergeant.
In October 2003, SSgt Mitchell reported to the Marine Forces Pacific Band in Kaneohe Bay, HI. During this time he served as operations chief and assistant instrument repair technician. In 2004, SSgt Mitchell was selected for Instrument Repair Technician and left for school in Red Wing, MN in August 2005.
Upon graduation from Minnesota State College Southeast Technical in May 2006, SSgt Mitchell was again assigned to Marine Corps Base Hawaii where he served as the Instrument Repair Technician for the Marine Forces Pacific Band.
In July 2009 SSgt Mitchell transferred to Quantico, Virginia to serve in his current billet as Instrument Repair Technician for the Quantico Marine Corps Band. He was promoted to his current rank of Gunnery Sergeant in July of 2010.
Highlights of his career include performances in Puerto Rico; Ottawa and Quebec Canada; Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore; Pago Pago, American Samoa; Canberra, Darwin, and Melbourne Australia; Tonga; and Edinburgh, Scotland. His awards include Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the National Defense Service Medal.
