Cadet Programs

The mission of Cadet Programs is a top priority for the Nevada Wing, and as such it has received a large amount of support in terms of logistics and senior personnel.

The success of Nevada Wing Cadet Program is due to the work of Squadron Commanders and the Deputy Commanders for Cadets. These dedicated individuals take their time and energies to CAP activities and weekly meetings and have positively shaped the lives of countless Nevada Civil Air Patrol Cadets.

CAP squadrons are divided into three types - Senior, Cadet and Composite.  Cadet and composite squadron include cadet members.  Please use the squadrons index on the right nav bar to learn more about a particular squadron.

The 2011 Cadet Basic School and Airman Training School was a great success!

The 2011 Nevada Wing Basic Cadet School & Airman Training School was held on 21-22 May at the Airman Leadership School on Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. 47 cadet students showed up for a fun and learning-packed weekend. 22 Cadet Staff members and 14 Senior Members were there to support the activity. These CAP members represented 8 different Nevada Wing squadrons, the Nevada Wing Staff, and California Wing.

The Nevada Wing Basic Cadet School provides cadets a thorough understanding of the Civil Air Patrol program and lays a solid foundation upon which the individual may build his or her Civil Air Patrol experience. The Basic Cadet School supplements and reinforces the Phase I introductory training conducted at the local unit. This program is intended to introduce the new cadet to the broad history, organization and missions of Civil Air Patrol, as well as the opportunities available as a cadet in our program. For most new cadets and their parents, BCS is the very first CAP activity outside their home unit.

The Airman Training School curriculum is designed to reinforce the topics introduced at the Basic Cadet School and the cadet's home unit. Through actual experience, each cadet learns the fundamental aspects of Followership, Drill and Ceremonies, and basic leadership laboratory skills. Knowing that local squadrons spend a lot of time teaching the cadet airmen within the unit, ATS reinforces and refines training, making the graduate of ATS extremely proficient at all aspects of Phase I of the cadet program. ATS is not intended to replace unit training, but rather to standardize it.
