Education Fair During American Days in Lviv, 6 October
A well-attended education fair took place during American Days in Lviv (4-8 October), giving local students a chance to learn about exchange program opportunities in the U.S. Amb. Ambassador Tefft Heads “Topping Off” Ceremony for New U.S. Embassy in Kyiv
Ambassador John F. Tefft presided over a ceremony July 29 to mark the completion of the concrete structure for the new U.S. Embassy in Kyiv. Ambassador Tefft met on the building’s roof with the construction workers that have taken the project from an May 2009 groundbreaking to the current stage in only 14 months, thanking them for their excellent work through a harsh winter and hot summer. Ambassador Tefft and Oleksiy Pecherov of the NBA Meet Young Athletes
Ambassador Tefft and Ukrainian NBA player Oleksiy Pecherov met with young athletes at the Olympic Reserve School in Kyiv on May 17 to promote sports and a healthy way of life. This event (and an earlier meeting between Pecherov and disadvantaged children) was supported by the U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sport.

Ambassador Tefft and Mrs. Tefft Opened New Exhibit: "Lost and Found: the Taras Shevchenko Papers"
Ambassador John F. Tefft and Mrs. Mariella Tefft participated in the opening of an exhibit of returned Shevchenko papers at the National Museum of Literature of Ukraine on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. The Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation is helping to restore the original manuscripts, photos, rare publications and graphics of Shevchenko’s collection, now on public display.

His recordings have sold over 20 million copies, and his collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Chick Corea, the Vienna Philharmonic, and Herbie Hancock have established him as an ambassador of both the classical and jazz worlds.

Concert to Mark 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall
December 4, 2009 in Kyiv the Embassies of the Federal Republic of Germany and the United States of America, with support of the Embassies of the Russian Federation, France and the United Kingdom, sponsored an International Gala Concert in honor of the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The concert took place at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
