Historic Sites, Buildings, and Antiquities Act (Historic Sites Act)Legislation building upon the earlier Antiquities Act to organize most of the national parks, monuments, and historic sites under the responsibility of the National Park Service (NPS). The Act (16 USC 461-467) declared a national policy of preserving historic sites, buildings, and objects of national significance for public use. Provisions of the Act are implemented through the NPS regulations available at 36 CFR 1-65. Regulations Applicable to Energy DevelopmentPortions of the regulations implementing the Historic Sites Act are potentially applicable to energy development activities.
